Copper engraving, hand colored in outline when published. Published in Blaeu's 'Atlas Major' (Latin edition), a very fine copy in excellent contemporary hand-color. This antique map shows Walachia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania in Southeast Europe. This map is with many details engraved, rivers, mountains, place names, etc. In the left upper corner is a allegoric title cartouche (weapons to the Turkish war) and in the right lower side is a little mileage scale.
In excellent condition.

Copper engraving, hand colored in outline when published. This decorative antique map shows us Transylvania, the Walachei, Bulgaria and Romania as well the neighboring Serbia. The map provides a lot of information on the political borders in that period, shows as well small place names, monasteries, mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. Further the map provides excellent information on the mouth of the river Danube into the 'Black Sea'. At the lower left bottom is a mileage scale.
A strong impression in excellent condition.

Original copper engraving, hand colored in wash and outline, when published. Detailed map showing the eastern part of the kingdom of Bulgaria with the mouth of the Danube into the 'Black Sea'. The Danube is the northern border on the map, showing many place names like Rassvat, Warna, Ratshik, Mankala, Kara Kerman, Tulcza, Braila and more. Mountains, rivers, lakes, woods, small villages, etc. are engraved. The Austrian cartographer Franz Joh. Josef von Reilly published around 1789 in Vienna a large amount of very detailed district maps of Central Europe. These maps are famous for their large scales and the many details they provide. Even tiny place names can be found on those maps, rivers, mountains, streets, monasteries are as well engraved. The maps, which Franz J. Reilly engraved, were especially designed for the Austrian Royal house and show countries, provinces and districts belonging to the 'Austrian-Hungarian Empire'.
