Original copper engraving, published 1624 in the famous historical Atlas "Parergon" (Latin text-edition) by Abraham Ortelius. Finely hand-colored in wash and outline. This map is ornated with a title cartouche on the lower left side, two further text cartouches in the upper right corner and on lower right side. Villages and towns are shown as miniature views. A very good example in excellent condition. Historical map of Dacia covering mainly the area of the Walachei, Bulgaria and Rumania. The map shows many historical city names, towns and small villages, mountains and the river system is well displayed.

Original copper engraving, published in the first Cloppenburgh edition of Gerhard Mercator's "Atlas Minor" in 1630, verso French text. A strong and dark impression, full margins as published. Detailed map showing Walachei, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. This decorative map by Mercator provides a lot of information on place names, rivers and mountains in that area. The map extends towards the Black Sea with the mouth of the river Danube This is the first so-called Cloppenburgh editions which was a competive edition with new engraved maps in a larger format. Most of the maps were engraved by Pieter van den Keere. The Cloppenburg edition was continued for a couple of years but seems to have been suppressed after 1636 ... (Koeman Atlantes Neerlandici).

This antique map shows Walachia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania in Southeast Europe. This map is with many details engraved, rivers, mountains, place names, etc. In the left upper corner is a allegoric title cartouche (weapons to the Turkish war) and in the right lower side is a little mileage scale.

Copper engraving, hand colored in outline when published. This decorative antique map shows us Transylvania, the Walachei, Bulgaria and Romania as well the neighboring Serbia. The map provides a lot of information on the political borders in that period, shows as well small place names, monasteries, mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. Further the map provides excellent information on the mouth of the river Danube into the 'Black Sea'. At the lower left bottom is a mileage scale.
A strong impression in excellent condition.

Detailed map showing the western part of the kingdom of Bulgaria with the Danube as the northern border to the neighbouring Walachey. The map is showing many place names like Widdon (Bodon), Nikopoli, Guardin, Lowatz, Ternowa, Triditza, Miprowata and more. Mountains, rivers, lakes, woods, small villages, etc. are engraved. The Austrian cartographer Franz Joh. Josef von Reilly published around 1789 in Vienna a large amount of very detailed district maps of Central Europe. These maps are famous for their large scales and the many details they provide. Even tiny place names can be found on those maps, rivers, mountains, streets, monasteries are as well engraved. The maps, which Franz J. Reilly engraved, were especially designed for the Austrian Royal house and show countries, provinces and districts belonging to the 'Austrian-Hungarian Empire'.
