Met Priviligie voor 15 Iaar. Amsterdam, C. Vogt 1684 [51,2 x 58,9 cm] Copper engraving, uncolored as published. This decorative sea chart shows the coasts from Guinea to Brasilia. Along the coast are many small place names engraved. In the lower left corner we see a figurative allegoric title cartouche. The Dutch firm and printing house van Keulen was one of the most important and leading publishers for sea charts during the ending 17th century. Their firm was leading in providing charts to the Dutch East India company also their charts relating to the Americas were of high importance. Most charts were highly accurate for that period and were as well nicely ornated with decorative allegoric cartouches. 1 spot (soiling) within the image, ca. 1,5 cm diameter, else very good. Liverpool. Philip & Son 1853 [50,8 x 63,6 cm] Lithograph, handcolored in outline, when published. This decorative map shows the Atlantic Ocean with neighbouring countries and continents: France, Norway, Greenland, South America, North America. Along the coasts are many place names engraved. In the lower right corner we see the title cartouche. This interesting and detailed chart has engraved travel routes and explorations (Lord Nelson) between the Americas, Africa and the Mediterrarean Sea. In excellent condition.
