The decorative colorful outline handcolored map shows in its centre Indian & Ohio, Kentucky and the adjacenting Virginia and Pennsylvania. It provides detailed information on place names, little streets and routes, rivers, lakes, mountains. Further the states are divided up into its counties in outline color. Overall size of the map circa 18 1/2 x 22 inches. The interesting map in vivid period hand color. At the lower centre fold and bottom marginal browning, affecting also slightly the engraved image of the map towards the border of Virginia, not really too disturbing. Verso a small mending. This detailed map shows the state of Ohio. Equipped in the lower right corner with a vignette view of the State Capitol at Columbus. New York, Currier & Ives 1874 [52 x 82,5 cm] Fine original lithograph, hand colored in the period, published and printed in New York by Currier & Ives in 1874. Large folio bird's eye view of the city of St. Louis in 1874. Charles Parsons and Lyman Atwater worked as artists and lithographers for this giant bird's eye view. It shows detailed the spread out city of St. Louis with the Mississippi river in the foreground. The fine view depicts detailed small boats, rafts and huge steamboats and their landing places next to the Mississippi bridge with a lively scene of trading people. The sketch of the individual houses, streets, churches, parks and industrial buildings is highly detailed, in the very background you recognize the expansion of the settlement towards the open country. Below the lithograph we do find an extensive listing of important buildings, city hall, parks, markets, churches, hotels, companies, etc. A highly decorative panoramic city view of St. Louis.
