Paris, Belleforest Francois 1572 [22,8 x 34 cm] Doublepage woodcut view, published around 1572 in the 'Cosmographie universelle' by Francois de Belleforest in Paris. Belleforest arranged this cosmography after the famous atlas 'Cosmographia' by Sebastian Muenster. A highly decorative sixteenth century view of the city of Eger in Bohemia. These days the town is called 'Cheb'. In the foreground the river and the city with its walls, above ornated with the coat of arms of Eger. In excellent condition. Bohemia Ortelius, Abraham Regni Bohemiae Descriptio. Antwerpen, Juan Baptist Vrients 1612 [33,5 x 50,9 cm] Original copper engraving, published 1612 in the famous Vrients-edition of the "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum". Finely hand-colored in wash and outline. Outstanding decorative early map of Bohemia with its neighbouring countries. This early map shows Bohemia still in shape of a heart. Prague is shown in the centre of the map. With many engraved names of villages and cities, as well smaller places. Rivers, mountains and woods are decorative shown. The map is ornated with two cartouches, in the lower left corner the title cartouche, in the lower right corner we find a milage scale with nine text lines of explanations in Latin. Bohemia Mercator, G. Bohemia Petrus Kaerius Coelavit Bohemiae Regnum. Amsterdam, I.E. Cloppenburgh, 1632 [18,7 x 25,4 cm] Copper engraving, uncolored as published. A fine copy in a dark impression, full margins as published. This is the first so-called Cloppenburgh editions which was a competive edition with new engraved maps in a larger format. Most of the maps were engraved by Pieter van den Keere. The Cloppenburgh edition was continued for a couple of years but seems to have been suppressed after 1636 ... . This is another Cloppenburgh edition, now with Latin text. The maps from the Appendix have been incorporated. The title-page is followed by a dedication to Prince Frederik Hendrik, dated 1632 and signed by Johannes Cloppenburgh. (Koeman Atlantes Neerlandici). In excellent condition. Inside the map are many place names, woods, rivers, mountains, etc. engraved. The figural title cartouche we find in the lower left corner. In the upper middle right side we look to a cartouche which the explanation of the map. In very good condition. Unusual prospect of the city of Carlsbad in Bohemia engraved after the drawing of Franz Lotoscha, who originated from Glogau in upper Silesia. Decorative view across the river Toepl towards the city of Carlsbad. Ornated in the lower centre with a large table of explanations to Carlsbad and the nearby surroundings. The large paper with old folds and a few tracks of use, mostly verso visable. As well verso skillfully restaurations at the centre-fold and on the right and left margins, however the engraving still in very good condition.
