Copper engraving, uncolored as published. A fine copy in a dark impression, full margins as published. This is the first so-called Cloppenburgh editions which was a competive edition with new engraved maps in a larger format. Most of the maps were engraved by Pieter van den Keere. The Cloppenburgh edition was continued for a couple of years but seems to have been suppressed after 1636 ... . This is another Cloppenburgh edition, now with Latin text. The maps from the Appendix have been incorporated. The title-page is followed by a dedication to Prince Frederik Hendrik, dated 1632 and signed by Johannes Cloppenburgh. (Koeman Atlantes Neerlandici).

Copper-engraving, hand-colored in outline, when published. Decorative map of the Magellan street with fireland and the southern tip of Patagonia. This fascinating decorative map of 'Tierra del Fuogo' shows us one of the most adventurest and farest places where exploration happened. With a few engraved place names and some lines of engraved text for the reader mentioning Iansz Barentz. The map is equipped with a large compass rose, seamonsters and sailing ships. In the lower corners with a decorative title cartouche and a milage scale. On top a table with explanations of place names.

Copper-engraving, handcolored in outline and wash when published. Detailed map of Paraguay with the mouth of the 'Rio de la Plata', Uruguay and in the west with the borders to the neighboring countries Peru and Chili. Matthaeus Seutter based and engraved this map on the cartographic information of the Jesuit missionary Michael Angelo Tamburino. The map provides good information on place names, mostly along rivers, also engraved mountains and missionary stations. Slightly marginal spots or soiling not affecting the image of the map. A brown spot near 'Rio de la Plata'. The centerfold with an old mending at the left side.
Still in very good condition.
