    Kupferstichkarte, grenz- und flaechenkoloriert, erschienen im Theatrum Orbis Terrarum von A. Ortelius. Links unten dekorative ausgemalte Rollwerkskartusche. Rechtsgenordete Karte. Dargestellt wird Meissen um 1600 mit angrenzenden Gebieten nach der Karte von Bartholemaeus Scultetus. In dekorativem Flaechenkolorit. Dekorative Karte in sehr gutem Erhaltungszustand.

    Amsterdam, I.E. Cloppenburgh, 1630 . [18,7 x 25,5 cm]
    Published in the first Cloppenburgh edition of Gerhard Mercator's 'Atlas Minor' in 1630, verso French text. This is the first so-called Cloppenburgh editions which was a competive edition with new engraved maps in a larger format. Most of the maps were engraved by Pieter van den Keere. The Cloppenburg edition was continued for a couple of years but seems to have been suppressed after 1636 ... (Koeman Atlantes Neerlandici). A fine copy in a dark impression, full margins as published. Minor browning.

    Nuernberg, Chr. Weigel. 1719 [32,9 x 38,7 cm]
    Copper engraving, hand colored in outline and wash when published. This map shows Saxonia with its neighboring regions. In the right upper corner we see a wonderful antique figurative title cartouche. In the lower right corner we find the mileage scale. Inside the map are many place names, rivers, mountains, etc. engraved. An interesting map of Upper Saxonia with Leipzig in the centre of the map. In the South the map extends towards Bayreuth and Eger, in the North towards Magdeburg. The cartographer Christoph Weigel worked around 1719 in Nuernberg and his maps are showing the typical style of this period in mapmaking in Southern German. He worked very close as with Johann B. Homann in Nuernberg. All his maps were hand colored in outline and decorative body color immediately in his printing house, after they were printed.
    In excellent condition.

In the lower left corner we look to a allegoric figurative title cartouche.

The map is highly detailed engraved with many place names, rivers, woods and mountains, it is based on the cartographic information by Ioh. Georg Schreiber ornated with coat of arms and angles in the upper left corner. In the lower left corner we find the title cartouche with a rural figurative scene.
    In excellent condition. Published plano without a centre fold.
