Description: Original copper engraving, published 1612 in the famous Vrients-edition of the "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum". Finely hand-colored in wash and outline. This map is ornated with a decorative title cartouche in the lower right corner. In the upper right corner we find a text cartouche with scale bars. Villages and towns are shown as miniature views. A very good example in excellent condition. A highly decorative early map of the region of Salzburg, towns are still shown as miniature engraved city views, mountains, woods, rivers and lakes are decorative engraved. The map was engraved after the cartographic source by Marcus Secznagel. In the lower right corner a large renaissance title cartouche and in the upper corners a descriptive text cartouche and a milage scale. The map itsself is orientated to the west. In the center of the map we find Salzburg. The map shows the areas 'Chiemsee', the 'Berchtesgadener Land', the river Saltzach up towards Burghausen and in the other direction the map stretches towards Villach in the neighbouring Carinthia.
