Description: Published in Leyden in Pieter van der Aa's "Zee- En Land-reysen Des Dapperen des Ferdinand Cortes ..." Engraved after de Cortes Verrolg, published in the travelbook by van der Aa, which describes the discoveries in the West-Indies and Central America after Ferdinand Cortez. The map shows detailed Venezuela and its coastline, as well many of the islands (Curacao, Aruba, Margarita Barbardos, Trinidad and many other small islands); in the upper right corner an allegoric scene with inhabitants next to the title cartouche. Detailled map showing Venecuela with the islands in the Caribean sea along the coast. Among that islands we find Curacao, Aruba, Tortuga, St. Margaritta, the Grenadille islands, Tobago and many more. The famous Dutch publisher and mapmaker Pieter Van der Aa (1659 Leiden - 1733 Leiden) published 'during the period 1782-1733, an enormous quantity of printed matter' (Koeman).
