Description: Decorative woodcut map, published in the Cosmographia by Sebastian Muenster around 1590. Ornated with a descriptive cartouche and a large ship in the sea. Various kingdoms are named in the African continent, as well rivers and mountains are shown. Various elements like animals and trees were used for the decoration of the map. Notes: Still a good to very good example of this much sought after early map. A few minor, very carefully mended thin places in the margins of the map (else very good).
