Description: Copper-engraving, hand colored in outline and wash when published. This important map of the Southeast of North America was published in J. B. Homann's famous printing house in Nuernberg after the cartographic sources by G. de Isle in 1703 and is also based on the explorations by La Salle. The map is ornated with highly decorative allegories on the Spanish exploration in the West Indies and New Mexico. In the upper left corner the engraved allegoric title-cartouche without the engraved 'privilegium' (first state, also Louisiana is named 'Florida' on the map). The map itself provides a very good information on many place names, rivers, mountains and lakes. Notes: In very good condition. A minor old mended split at the lower centre fold.
