Hogenberg Date: 1598 Size: [33,9 x 46,8 cm] Technic: Copper engraving / later handcolor Description: Original copper-engraving, hand colored in wash, published 1598 in volume V in the town book 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum' by Braun and Hogenberg. The entire series of the 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum' comprised six volumes and was published and printed from 1572 towards 1619. This decorative map shows us a panoramic view from the 'Sundt' towards the town Elsingor. Below is another panoramic view of the town Ripen with its neighboring royal castle. Both views are highly decorative ornated with ships in the foreground and the other one with a rural landscape in the foreground.
