A very nice hand colored example of the German edition of Mallet's map of Virginia showing the Chesapeake bay. The only engraved place name is Jamestown. The map provides names of various Indian tribes in Virginia and Maryland. The cartographic source of the map is actually based on Augustine Hermann's map of 1670 and other later maps of this region.
