Finely hand-colored in wash and outline. A highly decorative map of "Graecia Maior" showing the Southern part of Italy mainly the regions Bari, Basilicata, Otranto and Calabria. The map is based on cartographical sources of various classical authors (Trogus, Plinius, Festus, Servus, Vergilius, Seneca and Strabo). Ornated in the upper left with a small inset map of the Tremite islands. For decoration three large colored title cartouches with text or mileage scales were used. Notes: In excellent condition.
