Description: Copper-engraving, hand colored in outline and light wash color as published. A very rare interesting and quite detailed map of the Western United States showing the states of Washington, California, Utah, Nebraska and Kansas. The map is equipped with place names, some streets or trails, rivers and further the individual states are divided up by counties. All the different counties are named on the map. In the south the map extends towards Santa Fe and in the east it extends towards S. Boniface on lake Winnipeg. A very unusual and rare map by the Italian cartographer Girolamo Petri published in Rome 1858/59 in the atlas 'L' Orbe Cattolico ossia Atlante Geografico Storico Ecclesiastico Opera ...'.
